"Montreal: Frames of Reference," represents the second in a series of photographs that speaks to urban street politics and the chance encounter with the camera.  The first set of images were taken in NYC , and now in 2024, Montreal. My intention is to continue visiting major cities in the world to document how different groups of people interact with the camera.  By using a simple framing device, I have created an artificial means of selecting individuals from the sidewalk crowds for closer scrutiny.  Ultimately, the viewer's examination of the pedestrians' faces, body language, idiosyncratic behaviors, and their palpable reactions - within the frame and beyond its borders - are documented for the viewer's full consideration.
