"Reveries" is a series of bas-relief photographs I created in 1984/85 for my BFA thesis show at SUNY New Paltz. The images speak to remembrance and wistful dreaming.  The bas-relief technique requires an ortho/litho film contact be made from the original 4x5 negative. The ortho/litho is then developed in a dilution of Dektol to achieve a continuous tone positive.  The two films (4x5 negative and ortho/litho positive) are then sandwiched together with a slight misalignment thereby creating false highlights and shadows in the enlarged photograph.  The process results in the perception of a 3-dimensionality and relief.
